About Me

I gained my PhD at University of Oxford and currently I am Deputy Head Academic and Senior Housemaster in an independent boarding school based in Suffolk. I have been teaching, tutoring, working as senior examiners for all UK exam boards for over 16 years. I am committed to delivering the highest quality of teaching and guarantee excellent exam grades. Most schools focus on conveying a large amount of information to their students. But for most students that is not enough to create genuine understanding and an ability to answer exam questions. That is why many students, regardless of their ability, seek to get extra help from a personal tutor. My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in tackling exam questions. My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. First comes an initial conversation with student and parent - invaluable in establishing the direction tuition should take. I normally ask which exam board, what papers a student would be sitting on. Then I begin to devise a course of study to address gaps in knowledge and build skills, tailoring material to the student. I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student's understanding and technique. Every student is unique and learns in a slightly different way. My passion is to help students explore their potential and reach their goals. As students only have one chance to take GCSE or A-level exams, choosing a good tutor to support their studies is crucial to help them to secure a place in a good Sixth Form or University. I will make a world of difference for students who are struggling with homework or preparing for school or National exams.
